Who We Are
Fairview Methodist Church is a member of the Association of Independent Methodists (AIM). We are a locally governed body of believers who affirm the truthfulness of scripture, and who commit themselves to “methods” that encourage growth in loving God more and loving others better.
Why Methodist?
The roots of Methodism can be traced back to the campus of Oxford University in 1729, where a group of devout men formed a religious society called the Holiness Club. These men were dedicated to studying the scriptures, praying, and practicing works of piety and acts of grace towards those in need.
Their unwavering commitment to these disciplines earned them the nickname "Methodists" from their peers, who observed their structured and disciplined approach to the Christian life. Though this term was initially intended to mock them, it soon became a badge of honor, symbolizing a deep commitment to following the teachings of Christ with intentionality and purpose.
These methods empowered countless new believers during the Spiritual Awakening in England, Wales, and America during the 18th Century, to establish a firm foundation in their faith and pursue lives of holiness and grace.
At Fairview Methodist, we continue to embrace this tradition, seeking to live out our faith through disciplined practices, a deep engagement with the Word, and a commitment to serving others.
